SAHILVERSE / EXPERIMENTAL WORLDS
AN AUTONOMOUS CITY / AN IMPOSSIBLE ECOLOGY

GLOAMWORKS

You do not build the city. You decide where the shadows fall.

01 / YOUR INSTRUMENTS

Alter the conditions, not the citizens.

NOT A MODEL OF REAL URBANISM. Gloamworks is a fictional rule-driven artwork. Houses thrive in partial light, weaken in extremes, and leave traces when they disappear. The artwork has no goals, accounts, or built-in analytics.

FIELD GUIDE / VOL. 001

A city that prefers twilight.

You are holding a small fictional universe. Its inhabitants won't follow your orders. They settle along the unstable border between brightness and shadow. Move that border, and the settlement adapts.

☼ PLACE LANTERNClick or tap open ground to add light. A lantern makes the nearby edges habitable.
▥ PAINT SHADOW WALLDrag across the map. Walls block light and create new borders.
⤧ MOVE LIGHTDrag a lantern to reposition it. Old houses may fade; new ones may appear.
⌫ ERASERemove walls or lanterns. The city decides what happens next.

ECLIPSE temporarily removes all light until you turn it off. PAUSE stops growth. SOUND is optional and starts muted. CALM MODE reduces ambient motion. Keyboard: L, W, M, E select a tool; arrows move the map cursor; Enter acts; H reopens help. For keyboard lantern movement, use M, Enter near a lantern, arrows, then Enter again.

This is an artistic simulation, not a scientific demonstration of cities or people. No personal information is uploaded by the artwork. A saved postcard is an image on your device; a setup link shares initial conditions, not an exact replay of the city's history.
